About

My name is Alexa.

I'm a seminary student who's interested in how music
continues to impact my faith.

What really drew me to religion was music — both listening to the songs in church and writing my own — and I continue to feel most spiritually connected when I am surrounded by a great collection of
notes, melodies, harmonies, and lyrics.

This blog is entitled "Writings From the Rib," because I am a woman, finding Biblical origins from Adam's rib, and I am writing posts and music. As a feminist, I'm not sure how I theologically make sense of Genesis 2:22, but I [jokingly] explained it to my partner's little sister that God didn't get it all right the first time; Adam was a trial run and God pressed [control+c] with Adam's rib to create Eve, who was basically human 2.0 with all the bug fixes.

My mother told me that this reference to the rib would be too obscure,
but I like alliteration.
